Our community is keeping their spirits up during the pandemic by hosting fundraisers for Keshet. With so much negative news and stress, these bright lights are inspirations to us all.
We are so grateful (and proud!) to be the recipients of funds from these four projects:
Sam Silvers | Bat Mitzvah Project
When Sam’s Israel bat mitzvah had to be canceled, all she wanted was to celebrate with her family, most of whom live in Canada. She and her family traveled to Canada so she could have her service with the important people in her life. She brought with her a few resin mezzuzot, and left with orders for 32 more! A great idea was then born. Sam makes and sells these mezzuzahs and donates the proceeds to Keshet and PAWS.
Eli Jacobs, Ethan Weiner, Evan Nagler, Nate Kanter | Bar Mitzvah Project
Four friends, who all love sports, have combined their passions to raise money for Keshet. Ethan’s brother, Jonah, is a participant in Keshet’s programs. The boys have seen firsthand how Jonah benefits from Keshet, and wanted to do more. In addition to raising money for Keshet’s recreation programs, the boys have also participated in sports with Keshet After School.

Randi Freeman, Lucy Freeman, Lesley Wynes (Dye Girl) | Tie Dye Masks
Randi and Lucy were looking for a way to make a difference at Keshet, and approached Lesley. At the same time, Lesley, who is also known as Dye Girl, was being asked to sell tie dye masks. They put their efforts together to create a special fundraiser of selling tie dye masks for a limited time to benefit Keshet. No one could have guessed how popular this would be with 350 masks sold.

Bubbe Elaine Fisher | Hand-Made Masks
Being at home during the pandemic has really changed Bubbe Elaine’s life. (Elaine is an actual grandmother to long-time Keshet participant, Adam Heichman, but is also a surrogate bubbe to many in the Keshet family.) To stay busy, she started sewing masks that her family, friends and Keshet staff loved. She decided to keep sewing and then sell the masks to benefit Keshet. Each mask is made from a beautiful patterned fabric. Bubbe’s masks are available in-store at Stationery Station in Highland Park.
