On Sunday, June 3, Keshet hosted its 2nd Annual SoulCycle for Keshet | Women’s Ride at SoulCycle North Shore (Old Orchard). This fundraising and community-building event encouraged participants to reach out to their friends for donations in the weeks leading up to cycling. A total of 56 women, including Keshet program participants, participated in this year’s ride. Together, they raised, over $10,500 for Keshet’s Adult Programs and increased last year’s donations by 20%.
The SoulCycle experience is a 45-minute, high intensity “cardio party,” which takes place in a closed, candlelit studio. It is a unique take on a spin class. Riders of all abilities can participate in the fun and high energy workout.
Samantha, one of Keshet’s program participants and cyclist, shared, “I think it’s important to raise money for Keshet and help out people with disabilities in our community. I liked everything about the event, especially riding bikes.”
Keshet’s Adult Programs offer opportunities for people with disabilities to be included into their own communities through two MY Life residences, GADOL day program, customized employment and many recreation options. Both MY Life residential locations are filled with young adults living, working, and thriving together within the embrace of their community. The Sidney and Lisa Glenner GADOL program provides employment coaching and support to prepare adult team members for employment in addition to social and recreation opportunities. Customized employment matches participants’ strengths, skills and interests to local employers. Providing adults with disabilities the opportunity to live full, meaningful and purposeful lives also includes our adult recreation programs in sports, social outings, music and community service.
The success of this year’s SoulCycle ride comes not only from the generous riders, but also from volunteers and local sponsors, including Cycle Mania Chicago, Fruition Fruits, Benefit Cosmetics, Kendra Scott, Orange Pediatric Therapy Inc., Healthy Habits Group Chicago, Pearls of Chicago and ICM Properties.
